ALBA. 21-22 May, 2025

ALBA is a successful, annual workshop focused on advanced lead batteries. The workshop will be held in Turin, Italy on 21 May 2025, from 11:00am-5.30pm and 22 May from 8.30am-2.30pm, and will include a networking dinner in the evening of the 21 May. 

This year’s ALBA will have compact plenary talks exposing overviews and summaries. In break-out sessions, each participant will have the opportunity to discuss in depth three of the following topics and plan collaborative work streams associated with them:

• Design trade-offs and engineering tools support for automotive application engineers, including battery sizing based on IEC  60095-8 pulse-power characterization (PPC)
• Characterization results and trends for IEC 60095-8 charge recovery of both SOC and SOF (state of charge, state of function)
• Which mechanisms are limiting SOC recovery and enabling the transient SOF boost?
• Power-supply system guidelines to operate 12V batteries in battery-electric vehicles, evaluating slow voltage ramps and innovative approaches from other industries 
• System integration and SOF monitoring for safety-relevant (ASIL) 12V-power applications
• Optimizing positive active mass (PAM) for automotive auxiliary and backup batteries
• AGM saturation and evolution of side reactions,  
• Design trade-offs and engineering tools support for automotive application engineers, including battery sizing based on IEC  60095-8 pulse-power characterization (PPC)

A special session will discuss market trends and challenges for automotive 12V systems and their batteries, and opportunities for the lead battery supply base.  Please contact us now if you want to actively contribute to one of to one of the preparation groups, and/or offer a presentation, on one of the  topics listed above.
