CBI Communications Officer Position

Job Summary 

The Consortium for Battery Innovation (CBI), a rapidly growing global battery research consortium, is seeking candidates for an 18-month position as CBI Communications Officer to be based in Brussels, Belgium. 

Candidates must be educated to a relevant degree level (e.g. marketing, public relations, journalism or other degree requiring strong writing skills). With at least three years’ experience, preferably operating in Brussels, candidates will demonstrate their ability work with a complex and diverse portfolio of communications activities. 

Candidates must demonstrate the ability to summarize technical and scientific information and communicate material effectively to a range of different audiences, both within the Consortium’s membership and externally, and across different channels. A good understanding and experience of working with European institutions will be a significant advantage.  

Required Qualifications and Professional Capability

• Degree level education.
• Excellent writing skills and experience in digital communications. 
• Highly literate with the ability to produce accurate, clear, and effective content is essential.
• A proactive and enthusiastic manner.
• Strong IT skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills; able to interact with people at all levels across an organization.
• Self-motivated and able to use own initiative.
• Ability to work collaboratively across teams.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

• Excellent English and the ability to speak more than one additional European language.
• Professional qualification in marketing, public relations, journalism. 
• Film, photography and digital editing skills.

Job Responsibilities

• To research, write and edit engaging and accurate content for a range of channels, including online, print, media and social media.
• To initiate and develop engaging communications material (including infographics, blogs, articles) about CBI programs, projects and the work of our members.
• To support CBI Communications and Digital Manager with filming and preparing digital material on relevant research case studies, technical programs and membership activity.
• Promote the work of CBI through external conferences and meetings – including supporting CBI Communications and Digital Manager developing technical conference marketing materials, staffing conference booths, promoting conference media opportunities for approximately 3-5 conferences and/or workshops in predominately European locations.
• Development of communication material related to European Commission battery funding initiatives such as Horizon 2020.
• Supporting partner associations, preparing shared communications projects and related activity.
• Participation on behalf of CBI on relevant European committees and organizations such as the European Association for Storage of Energy (EASE) and Batteries European Partnership Association (BEPA) and Batteries Alliance.
• Support for work of related Associations and Initiatives (International Lead Association (ILA), Charge the Future (CtF) and the Association of European Manufacturers of Automotive, Industrial and Energy Storage Batteries (EUROBAT).    

This role will involve regular European travel.

Compensation

The salary and benefits package will be commensurate with education and experience.
