The Consortium for Battery Innovation (CBI) is a global research and development group, bringing together battery manufacturers and technical experts to develop the next generation of advanced batteries. In Europe, CBI supports research projects designed to boost performance for batteries in vehicles and across essential areas including defence, renewables energy storage, nuclear facilities and data centres. The 2026 CBI battery innovation roadmap sets out the latest performance targets and research priorities for batteries made and recycled in Europe.
